54th Annual Meeting

Muth Pump is teaming up with one of our Kansas distributors, Oil Patch Pump & Supply to attend the EKOGA 54th annual meeting in Chanute, Kansas.

The Eastern Kansas Oil & Gas Association was founded in 1957 by a group of independent producers to promote the interests of oil and gas production in Eastern Kansas, who were alarmed at the actions by the 1957 Kansas legislature and decided to do something about it. Their example was shortly followed by other interested individuals which led to the establishment of the first nucleus of a group which became to be known as Eastern Kansas Oil & Gas Association. The first grassroots meeting was attended by 96 people, including producers, service and supply people, royalty owners, refiners, and individuals of related businesses.

The purpose of the new organization was “to promote, further and enhance the interests of all segments of the oil and gas industry, in Eastern Kansas, including interests of royalty owners, and all other persons directly or indirectly affected by such operations. To collect and disseminate information affecting the welfare and activities of all the oil and gas industry in Eastern Kansas.”

Follow this link for the full schedule of events; 54th Annual Meeting Schedule of Events. If you have time and will be in the area stop by and visit. On Wednesday, September 14 and Thursday, September 15 we will be at Oil Patch Pump & Supply in Chanute with a live demo of our FARR Plunger pumping sand in a plastic tube. Stop by for some food and learn how we can increase your production and profits. On Friday you can stop by the show and find us with our distributor Oil Patch Pump & Supply and see our demo there.

FARR Plunger increases pump life 70% of the time and saved an average of 12 well pulling jobs per month in recent study by Chevron.

Abstract Submitted for APOGCE 2011

Extending Downhole Pump Run Life using Ingenuity Innovation and New Technology Lead to Reduced OPEX and Increased Revenue in the Duri Steam Flood (DSF), Indonesia.

SPE-145249-PP

In DSF, > 700 Pump Stuck (PS) jobs are performed each year which primarily caused by sand production. Annual total cost of this routine service work is multimillion dollar. In addition, with average of 3 days downtime/PS job, there is over 2,100 days of lost production associated with downtime. With currently over 5,000 active producer wells, identifying artificial lift SRP alternatives that can improve run life and reduce number of PS jobs performed would result in lower OPEX (*Operating Expense) (less PS jobs), higher production (reduced downtime), and lower risk of HES (*Health, Environment, Safety) incidents (less rig work).

Three viable options were identified for a field trial after soliciting ideas and opinions from Service Suppliers, MSS (*Maintenance Supports & Services) Team, and Chevron Global Network to overcome these pump stuck issue:

0.015″ fit Tubing Pump

Stroke-Thru Pump

0.002″ fit FARR Plunger

The 2008-2009 PMT (*Production Management Team) HOOU (*Heavy Oil Operation Unit) Artificial Lift Lean Sigma confirmed that these artificial lift options had a longer run life than the standard 0.010″ fit pump. Average run life was increased by 93 days, and 70% of the time produced a longer run life. During 12 months trial period, there was an average reduction of 12 PS jobs/month compared to baseline data.

Since the 0.002″ fit FARR Plunger had encouraging results in low wellhead temperature wells, there was initiative to evaluate it in higher temperature by modifying the pump fit to 0.005″ considering thermal expansion. In 2010, 15 units of 0.005″ fit FARR plungers were tested, replacing either a Stroke-Thru or 0.015″ Fit Pump that had failed. The results were encouraging and indicated that the 0.005″ FARR Plunger exceeded the run life of the previous pump 71% of the time with additional incremental run life of 44 days.

Aera Energy in Bakersfield, California contacted Muth Pump and asked to see a live demonstration of the FARR Plunger. On Wednesday December 9, 2009, Muth Pump took their exhibit trailer to Aera Energy at The Oaks in Bakersfield, California and gave a live demonstration/presentation on how the FARR Plunger works. There were several Area Engineers from the Midway/Sunset area on hand to see the live demonstration. As the Engineers gathered around the exhibit trailer and watched the FARR Plunger pumping sand and oil in a plastic tube they were quickly impressed at the ability of the FARR Plunger to pump sand in such a delicate setting. Word quickly spread through Area’s office and Engineers from Belridge and other areas also came out to see the demonstration.

Garold Muth, (inventor of the FARR Plunger), and David Muth were on hand to answer questions provide information about the FARR Plunger. Most of the Engineers could see the benefits and indicated they had several applications for the FARR Plunger in the Kern County area. Just a few days after the demonstration the orders for FARR Plungers began coming in.

Bakersfield, California based Muth Pump LLC has launched a new marketing program to generate new business and show oil companies how they can Increase Production and Drastically Cut Well Pulling Costs. Since Muth Pump began attending trade shows with their portable pumping unit, the response has been overwhelming by oil companies and pump shops to try FARR Plungers. After seeing the plunger pumping sand in a plastic tube they can clearly see how it works and how it can benefit their company. After trying the FARR Plunger most companies continue to use them because they work and save money.

Since trade shows are sometimes few and far between and can be very expensive to attend we decided to design a trailer that would allow us to take our show mobile. We can take this trailer with our pumping unit & video display to local oil companies to show them first hand how the FARR Plunger works and how it can save them money and increase production. Most trade shows use to take us 2-3 hours to set up. With this display trailer set up only takes about 20 minutes.

If you would like us to come to your company for a Presentation and Demonstration of the FARR plunger call (661) 588-8700 or e-mail garold@muthpump.com to set up an appointment.
